Welcome to MIT China Care!

Founded in 2007, MIT China Care is a student group dedicated to helping Chinese orphans and adopted children in need. We hope to create opportunities for all MIT students to make a difference locally, through our playgroup program for adopted Chinese children, and globally, through fundraisers for surgeries that save and improve the lives of Chinese orphans.

MIT China Care at the Zoo!

By Michelle F - posted January 19, 2012

Congratulations to MIT China Care members on a job well done by helping the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston plan the Chinese zodiac animal activity booth for the zoo's Chinese New Year celebration. MIT China Care and the zoo prepared the activity materials together, which included zodiac animal mask coloring pages, a large zodiac animal compatibility wheel, and zodiac animal description pamphlets. Pamphlets describing our BU-MIT Dumplings playgroup program for this spring were also printed.

On January 14, the day of the event, MIT China Care volunteers braved the freezing cold to embark on a 2 hour commute to the zoo and back in order to set up and run the activity booth. At the booth, situated in the Bird's World section of the zoo, children colored masks corresponding to their zodiac animal while our volunteers chatted with parents about customs for Chinese New Year and explained our playgroup program for the upcoming spring.

We loved meeting the with the families for this enjoyable event, and we hope to see interested families RSVP to attend our playgroups! Thank you MIT China Care officers for planning the event, and Franklin Park Zoo for inviting us!
