MIT China Care hopes to help TianLe, an orphaned baby boy with spina bifida, receive spinal cord surgery to prevent further damage to his nervous tissue. Last semester, we donated $1,950 that paid for most of Mei's, a young orphaned girl's, surgery and pre- and post- operative costs. Mei will soon be on her way to recovery. At the beginning of this semester, we raised ~$600 through our Valentine's Day fundraiser. However, TianLe still needs more money for his surgery. Charity Ball is our biggest fundraiser of the semester. Please help us make this successful!

An emergency bone marrow donor drive will also be held during the Charity Ball to benefit Janet Liang who is suffering from acute lymphoblastic leukemia and needs to find a bone marrow match before April. There will be a booth where attendees can register for bone marrow donor testing. Bone marrow donor registration only requires filling out a form and four quick cotton swabs of the inside of their mouth. 70% of all bone marrow transplants can be done entirely through the blood.
